Clothing Store Owner ‘Employs’ Shiba Inu Dog As Greeter, Says It Earns GBP-300 Monthly Salary

A clever clothing store owner has thought of a unique way of attracting more customers by placing his pet Shiba Inu outside the entrance dressed up as a salesperson with a ‘welcome’ sign.

Adorable footage shows the hard-working pup standing outside the storefront in Quanzhou, a prefecture-level port city located in China’s south-eastern Fujian Province.

The six-year-old dog reportedly even earns its own monthly salary of CNY 3,000 (GBP 326), according to its owner, whose identity was not revealed in local media.

Its ‘job’ also comes with meals and accommodation included, the owner humorously said.

The owner added: “It has been serving for more than a year, and it is very adaptable.”

In one video, the Shiba Inu could be seen ‘holding’ up a promotional sign that appears to be for a discount.

In another clip, it stood inside the store behind the glass entrance, yawning after a seemingly long day of work.

The images became a hit on the social media app Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, with netizens praising the good and obedient ‘worker’.

And a user titled ‘Up to you’ wrote: “I want to cry, why is my salary as much as his?”

Another, called ‘Dawn and twilight’, said: “Even dogs compete with me for work.”
