Bungling Hitman Kills Dad Instead Of Pink Panther Crook

This innocent father who lived in the same building as a suspected member of the infamous Pink Panther gang was shot dead by a professional hitman using a gun with a silencer in what is believed to be a case of mistaken identity.

The murdered dad was getting his infant daughter’s pram out of the boot of his car in a snow-covered street when he was shot dead by the hitman in the area of Banovo Brdo in the northern Serbian capital Belgrade.

The suspected killer, named by cops as 39-year-old Caba Der, is seen shooting 37-year-old Nebojsa Markovic in front of the building where he lived with his wife and baby and where the alleged member of the Pink Panther gang Aleksandar Sarac, 34, also lived.

Sarac is reported to have just been released from jail where he had been serving time for the illegal possession of weapons and it is suspected he was the real target of the attack.

The Pink Panther gang, thought to boast around 100 members mainly recruited from the Balkan countries, earned their nickname after making international headlines in 1993 when British detectives found a 750,000-USD (582,949-GBP) diamond ring – stolen from a jewellers in Mayfair, in central London – in a tub of face cream. This ploy had been used in Peter Sellers’ Pink Panther films.

They have since been tied to numerous other raids on multiple continents, such as a 2-million-GBP diamond heist in Chelsea in 2017.

In the footage of the murder, the dad who reportedly had no criminal record or ties with any criminal organisation was seen getting the pushchair out of the car when he was shot and instantly killed by the hitman.

Markovic is seen standing behind his car as a white Fiat Punto stops in the middle of the road. The killer, wearing a white jacket, then gets out of the Fiat and approaches the victim.

He then takes a gun with a silencer attached to it out of his bag before reportedly shooting Markovic multiple times in the head and chest, and no nearby residents heard the suppressed shots.

According to local media, Der is a professional hitman with a criminal record. He is on the run but police say they have arrested 40-year-old Alen Cigler on suspicion of being the getaway driver.

The investigation is ongoing.
