British Man Arrested On Spanish Island For Stabbing Ex

A British man has been arrested in Spain for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend in the abdomen three times.

The Spanish Civil Guard arrested him in the Spanish resort town of Corralejo, located in Las Palmas province in the Spanish autonomous community of the Canary Islands, in the early hours of Saturday 17th October.

Corralejo, known for its natural beauty and endangered wildlife, is located on the Fuerteventura island where the highest numbers of British residents are found in the Canary Islands.

According to the local press, cops found a foreign woman who was found stabbed in her abdomen three times. She was allegedly stabbed by her British ex-boyfriend aged 53, despite the couple having no history of violence before the incident.

Both are reported to be residents on the island, however, no further information was given on their identities. The events leading up to the incident are unclear.

Police were alerted of a possible domestic violence case at an apartments complex where both the victim and suspect live but in separate residences.

The British suspect was found and detained in the area shortly after authorities arrived at the scene and assisted the victim.

She was taken to the Fuerteventura General Hospital where she remains in stable condition and out of danger, according to local reports.

The suspect was under Spanish Civil Guard custody but was expected to be handed over to the Puerto del Rosario Court for Violence against Women within 72 hours since his arrest, however, there have been no further reports.
