This British national has been arrested on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura for abusing his girlfriend on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The Brit, whose identity has not been revealed but whose photo was released by the Spanish National Police, was caught by the police on Fuerteventura yesterday, 25th November.
The police issued a search warrant for the man earlier in the week, describing him as a thin white man around 1.75 to 1.80 metres (5’9″-5’11”) tall who can only speak English.
The authorities were concerned that the suspect might be hard to locate, as they believed he was wearing a disguise and possibly even a wig.

The British national was finally arrested for abusing his partner on 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The United Nations General Assembly dedicates this day every year to raising awareness about the abuse women around the world face at the hands of both strangers and their partners.
Every year the day has a different slogan. This year it was “Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!”. The colour is said to symbolise a future free from violence against women across the globe.
The date was chosen, as it was the date in 1960 when the three Mirabal sisters – political activists in the Dominican Republic – were brutally murdered by members of the country’s military.

The three were seen as a threat by the country’s dictator, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina, who was better known as ‘El Jefe’ (‘The Boss’).
The sisters were kidnapped and bundled into a van by members of the military regime after they left a prison where they had been visiting their husbands.
They were beaten to death and their bodies were thrown down a ravine to make it look like an accident.
El Jefe ruled the Dominican Republic with an iron fist from February 1930 until his assassination in May 1961.
In Spain, a total of 37 women have been victims of gender violence so far this year. Since 2003, when official records began, the fatalities amounted to 1,117, according to Antena 3.
