This is the breathtaking moment a hiker climbs a mist-shrouded “ladder to heaven” over a massive drop at a scenic spot in China.
The images were filmed in Baoding in central China’s Hebei province before being shared on Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China, on 2nd July, where they quickly made the rounds.
The first of the two short clips shows one of the hikers crossing the ‘bridge’, which appears to be made out of little more than thick steel cable and horizontal metal rungs.
Heavy mist surrounds the pair, with neither end of the ethereal ladder visible due to the weather.
The second clip shows the pair nearing the end of the ladder, with a steep cliff visible in the background.
Both climbers have helmets on and safety harnesses, although it appears they have to briefly detach them from the ladder when they reach the end of each section and attach them to the next segment before proceeding.
Netizens were in awe of the footage, with ‘Sea of Fish’ joking: “Very good, I am ready to take my boss and colleagues to team-building.”
And ‘Qingyi’ said: “What if you accidentally fall?”
