Astonishing Sight Of Giant Iceberg Off Canadian Coast

This is the amazing nature moment when a giant iceberg the size of an ocean liner floats up to Canada’s eastern coastline.

The iceberg appeared off the shores of Newfoundland island where viral footage of its arrival has clocked up nearly 11 million views in just two days.

Astonishing mages show the ice giant with straight lines that look as if they have been carved by a giant blade.

The footage was shared on Twitter by ‘Sprinter Team’ on 1st August with the caption: “A giant iceberg has sailed to the Canadian island of Newfoundland.”

The iceberg dwarfs houses running along the coastline as the island-sized ice mass floats in the Labrador Sea.

The authenticity of the footage was questioned by some but it has since been authenticated by the fact-checking service Snopes.

Another video shows the iceberg radiating a bluish hue.

A third video captured from the sky by what appears to be a drone shows the huge iceberg with a sheer cliff face after it apparently broke away from the Arctic shelf.

The drone video shows the massive breadth of the iceberg, which even appears to have its own little ‘river’ on it, complete with a waterfall, as it begins to melt as it travels further south.

The area is known to iceberg chasers as Iceberg Alley, an area of the North Atlantic Ocean where the Titanic famously sank after hitting an iceberg.

Greenland’s and Canada’s glaciers often break into large ice sheets as temperatures rise in the summer.
