Pet store owner’s cat helps wrap up packages by biting through the tape where it needs to be cut.
Phone footage shows the American shorthair tabby sparing its unnamed owner the trouble of searching for scissors to seal a package at the shop in the district of Kaizhou, in Chongqing, China’s largest municipality.
Instead, it obediently bit through the tape as its owner held it out straight where it needed to be cut.
Speaking to local media, its owner revealed the cat was actually working off a ‘debt’.
It had previously snuck into the warehouse and chewed on goods worth a considerable amount.
Netizens on Douyin, the Chinese TikTok, gushed over the sight of the little helper after its owner shared the video on 16th March.
User ‘Time is like a song’ wrote in a comment: “Cats are awesome.”
While ‘Alisa’ joked: “Life is not easy, even cats have to pay debts.”
And ‘I am Jingjing’ said: “Haha, if you raise more [cats], you don’t need to hire people. Labour costs are so expensive now anyway.”
The American shorthair is a popular breed known for its sturdy build, friendly temperament, and distinctive tabby coat patterns.
These cats are medium to large in size with a muscular physique.
They have round faces, expressive eyes, and ears that are proportionate to their head size.
Their short, dense coat comes in various tabby patterns, including classic, mackerel, and spotted.
American shorthair cats are adaptable, sociable, and considered excellent companions for families and individuals alike.
