Young Bear Rescued From Hole By Cops With Tree Trunk

This is the moment quick-thinking cops put a tree trunk down a hole and then run for it as a trapped young bear uses it to climb up and dash for freedom.

The incident happened in the town of Victoria, in Central Romania’s Brasov county, when the police decided not to wait for firemen to remove the panicked bear from the hole.

Worried that the mother bear who a short while earlier had been on the scene risked coming back at any stage, and to stop the bear injuring itself, they placed the tree trunk into the concrete hole and then ran for it.

Seconds later, the bear scrambled out of the hole and without a second glance at its rescuers, dashed through the shrubbery into the safety of the nearby forest where it is believed to have been reunited with its parent.

The Brasov County Gendarmerie Inspectorate confirmed that police had been called following an emergency phone, about the animal stuck in what was reportedly a sewer hole.

Realising the female bear was close, they had decided on the impromptu rescue involving the tree trunk.

The Gendarmerie posted the rescue footage on their Facebook page, where netizens praised their intervention and quick thinking in reducing the stress on the baby and the risk to people from the worried mother bear.
