A Florida woman who ordered a ‘mini’ pressure cooker on the online marketplace Temu, thinking it was a real bargain at just over GBP 20, ended up with a doll’s house toy.
Temu is an online marketplace promising ultra-low prices on everything from headphones to prams. It has recently launched in the UK and gone viral on social media with deals that often look too good to be true.
The unnamed woman’s son identified only as Sol on X shared his mum’s experience online in a post that has notched up over four million views since being shared online on 6th December.
Sol said: “My mother wanted to buy a pressure cooker from the Temu online marketplace, and well, she bought it, but I swear, I can not handle it.”
Pictures show the miniature toy cooker ordered from the Deyang Sheep Kitchenware company at USD 26.94 (GBP 21.50) with a 4.6 rating, catching Sol’s mum’s attention.
The item’s caption described it as an aluminium compact and mini pressure cooker. However, Sol’s mom surprised at the toy she received.
Netizen ‘Vero’ said: “Now you need to buy the rest of the supplies to make mini cooker food videos.”
And ‘Atomico’ joked: “The cooker must be one of those things that swell with water.”
‘Cristy Morales playfully added: “I apologize, but you have to take care of it, feed it so that it grows strong and healthy. The little pot is so cute and tender.”
And ‘Maru’ then said: “Simple: did you not read the description where it says mini pressure cooker? Then there is no complaint.”
