This is the harrowing footage of a huge elephant that was run over and trapped underneath a lorry following a collision in Malaysia.
The footage was shot at night and the lorry driver had not seen the elephant in time. He collided with it with full force, with the cab of the vehicle rolling over the elephants huge body leaving it trapped underneath.
The animal had wandered onto the road from the jungle jungle near the district of of Hulu Terengganu, in north-western Malaysia’s Terengganu State and was apparently crossing the road together with other members of the herd when it was struck by the lorry at kilometre 44 of the of the Jalan Berang-Aring highway.

Police said that the lorry that was travelling from the town of Gua Musang to Kemaman Port was carrying a load of iron which made it especially heavy and the elephant had little chance of surviving the huge blow.
The driver of the vehicle, Emyhaizi Ahmad, 32, said that the elephant was one of several and it had been impossible to stop in time.
Another vehicle had to be called in order to drag the elephant out from under the vehicle, and it was later declared dead after suffering massive head injuries.
The body was removed from the scene by the Malaysian Department of Wildlife officials. Malaysia has almost 1,500 wild elephants, who live in the rainforests together with orangutans and tigers.
They also warned that conflicts in which the elephants died after coming into increasingly close contact with man or a growing problem.
