Two-Headed Mutant Moggy’s Struggle For Life

An eerie, mutant kitten with two heads, two mouths and three eyes has been born in Colombia.

Its owner told media in Puerto Berrio, Antioquia Department: “We found the kitten at around five in the morning.

“We found out late because our cat had hidden to give birth.

“We took him to the veterinarian and he told us that it was best to euthanise him because the little animal would not have a good quality of life or development.”

But the kitten’s owner tried to save it by feeding it using a syringe.

She told local media: “He ate normally and we always thought of giving support to the little animal because he is a living being.”

But the moggy sadly passed away just hours later.

On its otherworldly appearance, its owner said: “When we saw the little animal we were very spooked because nothing like this has ever been seen in Puerto Berrio.”

The mutant kitten’s mother had also given birth to five other kittens, which are all reported to be in perfect health.

It is believed the one that died was born with polycephaly – the condition of having more than one head.

Polycephaly occurs due to a malformation in the womb, in turn due to the incomplete division of an embryo.

It is more commonly observed in cattle, but it can also occur in domestic animals such as cats and dogs.

Animals with polycephaly usually live for just a few hours, although some are known to have survived for a number of days.

Many, however, are born without vital signs or do not survive to term.
