Tourist Plummeted From Cliff Edge Having Photo Taken

A tourist plunged nearly 40 feet to his death while having his photograph taken on a cliff edge in Argentina.

Victim Juan Florez Estada, 39, had asked another tourist to take his photo when he lost his footing in a rockfall.

Juan had stopped at the beauty spot and asked a passer-by to snap him in front of the spectacular view overlooking Playa Escondida.

But he fell 10 metres onto the rocky beach below, suffering multiple fractures and head injuries.

One grim image shows him on the beach just moments after he fell.

Coastguards gave him first aid until paramedics winched him up the cliff and rushed him to hospital in Mar del Plata, where he later died of his injuries.

Juan had been making what was meant to be a solo trip of a lifetime through Paraguay and Argentina.

He had left Madrid for Asuncion on 30th December, flying to Mar del Plata on 12th January.

He had been planning to return to Paraguay on 20th January in time for his flight back to Madrid the next day.

According to his social media profile, Juan was from Madrid but was living in San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

He had studied at Rey Juan Carlos University.

He had posted a screenshot of his Paraguay-Argentina return flights, writing: “Preparing the second part of the best trip of my life.”
