Stray kitten gets stuck with its head poking through a hole in the road near a school.
The touching incident took place in a school in the Chinese Province of Guangdong on 10th October.
A video posted on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, shows the cute stray kitten stuck on the concrete pavement while letting out a desperate cry for help.
The manager of the nearby school cafeteria heard its frantic scream for aid after it became caught on the concrete sidewalk.
It is unclear how it ended up under the pavement, where it had then tried to squeeze through a tiny hole back to the surface.
The canteen manager quickly requested help from a talented chef, and the two of them joined forces to undertake a rescue effort.
The kitten’s situation was pitiful but luck seemed to be on its side as it cried out pathetically, and the canteen manager was alerted to its distress in time.
They eventually saved the kitten from the situation with some careful chiselling away of the concrete.
Although the incident was scary for the kitten, Douyin users kept making fun of the cat in comments.
Netizen ‘Jiamusi’ commented: “You grow cats in the ground?”
While ‘Sixteen’ wrote: “Don’t worry, it will grow out in a few days.”
And user ‘Lilac’ added: “How did you get in?”
