Thousands Of Dogs Stuffed Into Cages Rescued From Butcher’s By Outraged Motorists

Dogs were rescued after angry motorists stopped a truck from continuing that was carrying cages full of canines as it travelled down a Chinese motorway.

It is understood that the motorists acted to stop the truck going on after spotting it at a service station and also called the police after spotting the dogs apparently being improperly transported in the packed lorry.

Local media said that they acted after the truck was stopped at the Xiqiao service area in Lu’an, a prefecture-level city in China’s western Anhui province.

It was found to contain thousands of dogs that were not properly licensed or vaccinated and reportedly destined to be butchered for meat.

Also quizzed by police were the four people inside a white Volkswagen who were effectively managing the transport and travelling alongside the lorry.

The dogs were rescued when the lorry pulled into a service station. People also at the location refused to allow the lorry to leave until police arrived and confirmed that the dogs were unlicensed.

The Yu’an District Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade stated that the police and the agricultural and rural departments are currently investigating on-site.

They said that the transporter of the dogs had been cooperating with the investigation on site. And the source of the dogs was also under investigation.

And ‘Xiao Qiao’s Vlog’ added: “Punish dog dealers severely.”

It was not revealed what happened to the dogs after they were found to be transported illegally.
