Restaurant-Goers Run For Lives As Earthquake Strikes

This viral video seen over two million times shows a group of restaurant diners springing from their seats and running for their lives as the ground trembles beneath them during an earthquake.

The 4.9-magnitude temblor was felt most strongly in the county of Yongsheng in quake-prone Yunnan Province in south-western China at 8:23pm local time on 21st July.

The viral security footage taken from a local restaurant shows just how sensitive and alert local residents are to the life-threatening natural disasters.

According to China’s Ministry of Emergency Management, the earthquake was short-lived, and no deaths or injuries have been reported thus far.

Its epicentre was recorded in Yongsheng County at a depth of 10,000 metres, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.

Officials said the earthquake caused five trains to be delayed between the city of Lijiang and provincial capital Kunming.

They were still assessing the damage caused at the time of writing.
