A lost green-haired dog has been reunited with its owner in south west China after finders showed off the pooch’s distinctive hair-do on social media.
The pup – a Chinese Crested dog – was found wandering the streets in the city of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, with its distinctive crest and tail dyed bright emerald green.
Images of the pooch kept emerging on social media until the owner – named as Ms Fu – got in touch.
They had posted videos of it on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, with the caption: “Whose non-mainstream dog is lost, on Wuhou Avenue?”
Friends of Mr Fu saw the images circling social media and immediately recognised her dog, named Tangyuan.
She contacted one netizen, Ms Cheng, who had posted the most recent footage of her lost pet to ask where she last saw it.
Afterwards, the two were happily reunited.
Ms Fu said that she has raised Tangyuan for seven years, and intentionally gave it a flamboyant hairstyle so that she can easily find it if it ever gets lost.
She said it had been lost once before, so she felt compelled to give a very distinctive look.
Ms Fu explained: “I have dyed it for five or six years, and I have tried other colours, but I still think green looks the best.
“Thank you very much to the netizens on the whole network for helping to find the dog,” she added.
