Moment Fishermen Push Stranded Manta Ray Out To Sea

This is the heartwarming moment a fisherman uses a branch to push a huge manta ray back out to sea after it became stranded on the stony shoreline.

The manta ray was spotted by fishermen on La Sorgente Beach in the southern Italian region of Reggio Calabria.

In the video, the large manta ray is seen approaching the shore as a fisherman says: “This morning, we noticed this beautiful fish, look at it.”

The manta ray then apparently becomes stuck on the stony shoreline and one of the fishermen uses a branch to push it back.

He says: “It is two metres (6.6 feet) long and we are trying to make it go out to sea.”

The man has to repeat the process several times until the ray found itself in deep enough water to turn around and head back out to sea.

Netizen ‘Casareale Umberto’ said: “How is the manta ray now, is it okay?”

Consuelo Polimeno, who shared the footage on Facebook, replied: “Yes it is fine. It went back out to sea.”

Facebook user ‘Giulio Amodeo’ congratulated the fishermen: “Bravo, you guys did well.”
