Israeli Soldier Shoots Handcuffed, Blindfolded 16yo Boy

This footage shows the 16-year-old Palestinian boy shot and seriously injured by Israeli forces while blindfolded and handcuffed when he tried to flee after being arrested for throwing stones.

Teenager Osama al-Badn was reportedly shot in the back in the town of Tuqu in the Palestinian governorate of Bethlehem after he was arrested for throwing rocks at Israeli troops and civilians and the footage shows blood on the ground as IDF soldiers argue with onlookers.

According to local media, the 16-year-old tried to make a run for it while handcuffed and blindfolded and an Israeli soldier allegedly shot him from a distance of 15 metres (49 feet).

Parts of the incident were filmed by Palestinian onlookers who also claimed that soldiers refused to allow the teenager to be taken to hospital, something which the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) denies.

Eyewitness Muhammad Hajaza told local media: “There were clashes going on at the time, and [soldiers] grabbed him and were holding him for about 15 minutes.”

“The clashes got more serious and the young man decided to flee even though he was blindfolded and handcuffed. The soldier who ran after him shot the teen with a pistol from 15 metres away.”

Hajaza claimed that the youngster was shot in the lower body and was initially refused treatment.

In the next scene, Osama al-Badn is seen being carried from the scene by Palestinian civilians.

Reports said that the 16-year-old was rushed to a hospital in Bethlehem in a serious condition although doctors expect him to make a recovery.

The IDF has confirmed the incident, adding that al-Badn was arrested during “a violent riot that include stone throwing t security forces and Israeli cars which threatened the lives of civilians and security forces.”

The statement added that the boy was given “immediate medical attention” after the shooting, and said that the incident will be looked into again.
