Local media said that the river water levels are low in some areas and the remaining puddles are attracting a plague of mozzies which is bothering residents and affecting local trade, especially bars.

Miguel Angel Sanchez, president of the ‘Defence of the Rivers Tagus and Alberche in Talavera de la Reina’, told local media that the situation worsens every year due to the low water levels.

He also criticised the local authorities for diverting the River Tagus, the longest in the Iberian peninsula, to other regions such as Murcia and Madrid which has left the city of Talavera de la Reina behind.
