Honey Badgers’ Sweet Playfight Delights Fans

Pair of playful honey badgers put on their own brock and roll show for charmed fans at their zoo in Russia.

Neo and Trinity – named after characters from the sci-fi movie ‘The Matrix ‘- were caught on camera trying out their energetic grappling skills at their enclosure in Moscow Zoo on 18th May.

And they showed all of their movie namesakes’ twisting and turning skills as they rolled around their rocky home.

Keepers said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “Evening antics of our honey badgers Neo and Trinity.

“This couple arrived from the Czech Republic three years ago. They get along well together, actively socialising.

“If one is eating or playing with something, the other one also rushes over to see.”

The pair seemed to be tussling over a potato snack left in their enclosure by keepers.

But the humble spud is nowhere near as sweet as the favourite treat.

The zoo explained: “This fearless little creature got its name because it often raids beehives, feasting on honey and bee larvae.”

The clip clocked up more than 18,000 views after the zoo shared it on its profile on the Russian social media platform VKontakte, delighting animal lovers.

One named ‘Olga Moskovskaya’ said: “Oh my God!!! Two atomic bombs!”

Then user ‘Natalys Shalaginov’ commented: “This is the fourth time I have seen them and they are always active, like batteries, always rustling and playing. They sleep at least 1.5 minutes a day.”

And ‘Mikhail Scherbakov’ added: “These are amazing animals. African Terminators.”

Known for their ferocious defense of their territory and their ability to raid beehives, honey badgers (Mellivora capensis) are also known as ratels.

They are native to Africa, Southwest Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
