This is the hilarious moment a cute anteater turns and puts its paws up in the air like a busted criminal when a man shouts “hands up”.
The scene was recorded in San Carlos in northern Costa Rica and has been published by local media.
In the video, the small anteater can be seen walking away from the camera when the man recording says: “Hands up, hands up!”

The anteater instantly turns around with its two front paws lifted into the air before falling backwards onto the ground.
The tiny animal then turns around and beings walking away when the man says “hands up” again.
The anteater again turns around with its paws in the air as the man recording laughs.
Netizens loved the clip, with ‘Marco Antoniosolis’ writing: “This is the animal’s self-defence technique. It has claws that cause deep cuts.”
And ‘Carlos Salazar’ added: “This shows that even animals are scared of street crime.”
While ‘Julian Jimenez Barquero’ commented: “Guys, be serious, this is the defence position of those animals showing they are scared and if you approach them they are going to defend themselves with their claws.”
