A two-year-old boy was savaged to death by his own family’s pet pitbull as he tried to get a ball he’d kicked into the garden.
Victim Pyettro Alves da Silva had been playing with the ball inside the house in Teixeira de Freitas, Brazil, when it rolled outside on 27th September.
But when he tried to get it back the seven-month-old pitbull pup flew at the youngster with such force it snaped its chain, reports local media.
Pyettro was so badly torn apart by the dog he suffered a massive cardiac arrest and died as surgeons tried to stabilise him from his horrific injuries.
Heartbreakingly, his family had bought the pitbull just two days before the attack.
Civil Police are investigating the death to discover if Pyettro’s parents were negligent.
The fate of the dog is uncertain.
