This is the adorable Chinese toddler whose skin colour turned black after a bone marrow transplant to cure the two-year-old girl’s leukaemia.
Little Luhan Wang was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2018 in the city of Langfang in the north-eastern Chinese province of Hebei and doctors did not give the tot much chance of survival.
Last month, Luhan was suffering with hypertension, heart distress and other conditions when doctors told her parents that she might not last through the night.
Medics even asked the parents to visit their child for the last time and discussed burial procedures for when Luhan passes away.
However, the tot miraculously survived and later that evening, out of guilt for his child suffering so much, the father tried to take his own life by swallowing pills, according to reports.
He was found by a housemate and taken to hospital.
In February, The father donated bone marrow for his daughter’s transplant and the family launched an online fundraising campaign.
Reports said that they have received donations amounting to 750,000 RMB (85,270 GBP), however doctors said that follow-up treatment could cost as much as one million RMB (132,000 GBP).
Following the transplant, Luhan began to suffer from various problems and she lost eight kilogrammes(17.6 lbs) in a month.
The two-year-old’s skin colour also started to appear black.
Doctors believe that Luhan’s body is having trouble accepting the operation and she is not producing enough phagocytes to deal with growing melanin levels, which is causing her skin pigmentation to change colour.
It is currently unclear when the follow-up treatment will begin.
