A stray cat and dog which were said to be inseparable have been found poisoned to death in the street.
The stray ‘best friends’ were found dead in the city of Shah Alam in the western Malaysian state of Selangor, and a heartbreaking snap of the dead pair was posted on Facebook by netizen ‘D’Cat D’ Hati’ where it has been widely circulated.
In the snap, the allegedly poisoned animals are seen lying side-by-side in a sheet on the street.
According to the Facebook post, the stray cat and dog were inseparable while alive and did everything together.
Residents often saw the cute pair huddling for warmth on cold days or playing with each other on the street like best pals.
Even in death, the two friends were huddled close together, according to the photo shared on social media.
At the moment, it is currently unknown who allegedly poisoned the strays and the local authorities have yet to confirm whether they are looking into the matter.
It is also unclear what the authorities did with the stray animals’ dead bodies.
The city of Shah Alam replaced Kuala Lumpur as the capital of Selangor State in 1978 due to the latter’s incorporation into a Federal Territory in 1974.
