An anti-vaxxer mum has gone on the run with her two kids so their dad cannot get them jabbed against COVID-19.
Cristina Mariscal Copano, 46, had filed for sole custody over her sons Diego and Hugo Kau Mariscal, aged 14 and 12 respectively, because she did not want their dad to get them jabbed against the coronavirus.
However, when the court sided with dad David Kau, the teacher sent a letter to her ex-husband on 4th November informing him she would no longer be taking the kids to school or complying with the terms of their joint custody agreement.
The dad eventually reported the mum, whom he had divorced six years earlier, to the police in the southern Spanish town of Mairena del Aljarafe for abduction on 16th December.
As of yet, the youngsters have not been located either in the city of Jerez de la Frontera, where the mum’s new partner lives, or in the town of Tomares, where the mum herself resides.
During their two months’ absence, the dad has not been able to speak to the youngsters over the phone or learn of their whereabouts.
Through her lawyer Borja Gomez Martinez-Fresneda, the mum has said that the kids are well and that “any mother would do the same because it is not correct to experiment with children with a vaccine”.
Gomez has also told reporters that the vaccines against COVID-19 have “serious side effects” and that the mum had taken the kids away to “protect” them.
The lawyer has suggested that if the dad agrees not to vaccinate the youngsters against the coronavirus, the mum will return with the kids.
The lawyer has claimed that the mum has committed no crime, as “there is just cause” to have taken the youngsters away.
However, according to Spanish law, if she is found guilty of abducting her own children, Mariscal could face two to four years behind bars and lose custody over the youngsters for four to 10 years.
According to the latest local reports, investigators say that they are close to ascertaining the whereabouts of the missing three.
