Anesthesiologist Suspected Of Causing Death Of Four-Year-Old Girl Who Turned Up For Dental Work

An anesthesiologist is facing possible manslaughter charges after a young girl turned up with a broken tooth and later died, with several other kids also taken ill.

German authorities opened up an investigation against Dr Gerald Wimmer from the town of Kronberg, Hesse State, Germany, after the girl named Emilia, aged 4, died the day after the appointment.

Emilia was reportedly brought to the practice by her mum after she broke a took while playing outside with friends on 29th September 2021.

Her mum told German media that she specifically chose the practice because they offered pain-free treatments for children, which were reportedly carried out by Wimmer.

But the little girl’s unexpected death raised questions, when three other children had to be rushed to the hospital with severe injuries after being treated by Wimmer the same day.

German media said that a similar incident reportedly happened with a fourth child who was also treated by the medic four weeks earlier.

A spokesperson from the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office said: “They then had to be treated in intensive care.

“There is a suspicion that the death was caused either by improper treatment by the doctors or by a contaminated anesthetic.”

Chief Public Prosecutor Nadja Niesen said: “Since the investigations here have not yet been fully completed, I will not be providing any information at this time.”

An earlier police report revealed that all of the children’s injuries occurred due to the suspects’ medical errors.

Wimmer refused to comment on the case.
