Wild panda that had broken into a villager’s garden hides its head behind a stack of wooden panels, apparently thinking that will avoid it being seen.

The furry intruder was discovered by the doorstep of a house in the village of Diaoyutai, in north-western China’s Shaanxi Province on 21st September.

The person who filmed the panda said there was heavy rainfall which forced the panda to seek shelter from the rain under the eaves.

After tucking itself in a secluded hiding place it fell asleep behind the stack of panels and woke up upon being found bit kept its head down, seemingly hoping it would not be seen.

Video footage shows the animal crouching in the corner and bending its head, avoiding people’s eyes and probably hoping they will not notice and go away.

The villager said it later began walking around the yard and even tore through the protective netting around a nearby cornfield in an attempt to escape the humans.

They added that they alerted authorities of the animal’s presence and fed it bamboo while awaiting rescuers to arrive.

According to the Black River National Forest Park, the panda had been spotted once on the afternoon of September 18th, and again on the evening of September 20th when it ventured into a villager’s shed, frightening the residents.

Based on its condition, the park said the panda may be ill and it showed symptoms of diarrhea.

It will reportedly remain at the shelter to receive treatment and it will be released back into the wild once it recovers.
