Son Lived With Mother’s Dug-Up Corpse For 13 Years

A son who dug up his mother’s corpse and lived with it for 13 years because he could not bear to be without her is facing charges of desecrating her body.

Horrified relatives found the preserved corpse sitting on a sofa in front of the television.

Her grief-stricken 76-year-old son – named only as Marian L. by local media in the town of Radlin, WodzisĹ‚aw County, Poland – had apparently been unable to come to terms with her death.

So after her burial, he dug up her grave and took her body back home where he used an embalming process to preserve her.

Marian L. was arrested by police after his horrified brother-in-law discovered the corpse on a sofa in the sitting room.

The son – despite living next door to his sister and her husband – lived alone and behaved like a hermit for at least 11 years.

But after noticing he seemed strange and disoriented, his brother-in-law reportedly decided to check up on Marian.

He went to pay him a visit on 22nd February and was met with the shocking and grim sight.

Police requested an autopsy which reportedly did not reveal a cause of death.

But DNA testing confirmed that the corpse belonged to Jadwiga L., the suspect’s mother.

Prosecutors say the woman – who died in 2010 aged 95 – was removed from her grave by

Her coffin – in the parish cemetery just 900 feet away from her son’s house – was empty, report local media.

A spokeswoman for the Gliwice Prosecutor’s Office, Joanna Smorczewska, told local media: “After being examined by paramedics, Marian L. was transported to the hospital where he remains to this day.

“He was dealt with there. He gave explanations, but we do not disclose their content.”

She added: “At present, Marian L., due to his state of health, will be examined by expert psychiatrists who will issue an opinion on his state of health.

“The proceedings are pending, further procedural steps are being taken in the case.”
