A Spanish woman has been arrested after allegedly giving her pal a human head inside a box and saying it was full of sex toys.
The human head was found in the box in the town of Castro Urdiales, in the northern Spanish region of Cantabria by the suspect’s friend.
Local media report the suspect, identified as Carmen M., 61, had given the box to her friend in April saying it was full of sex toys her boyfriend had left when he moved out. The woman only recently opened it after she noticed a bad smell coming from inside, according to reports.
The head has not been identified but reports state the suspect’s arrest could be linked with the disappearance of her 67-year-old boyfriend, whose name has not been reported.
Spanish Civil Guard sources said to local media that the head was found by a woman early on Friday and that they are working to identify it.
According to local media, the woman who found the head inside the box had to be attended by paramedics as she suffered an anxiety attack.
The suspect was born in Cadiz, in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia, but had been living in Castro Urdiales for seven years.
The Spanish Civil Guard are investigating the case which has been labelled as secret following the judge’s orders.
Local media report that the suspect was arrested on suspicion of homicide as the human remains could belong to the missing man.
The investigation is ongoing.
