A woman has revealed how she discovered her boyfriend had been cheating on her with at least five women throughout their 12-year relationship at his funeral after he died.

Kaline Macedo said she made the shocking discovery while attending the funeral of her partner, identified by local media under the fictitious name Mauro, in Alagoinhas, Bahia State, Brazil, after he died in a car crash while returning from a trip to Sergipe in October 2025.
Kaline, who met her partner in 2013 when she was 19 and studying civil engineering, said she initially believed she had found a loving and caring partner, local media reported on 30th July.
She told local media: “He was a very loving, attentive and affectionate person at the beginning of the relationship.”
But she said she gradually began noticing signs that something was wrong, claiming he often lied about his past and invented stories about his life.
Kaline said Mauro told her he had lost a twin brother in an accident, tried to become a police chief and had been the victim of an attempted robbery, but she later questioned whether those stories were true.
She said: “I gradually noticed his inventions, but I did not want to create conflict. I believed that, as it was nothing too absurd, I could overlook it.”

She also claimed the relationship became increasingly difficult because of his jealousy and controlling behaviour.
Kaline said Mauro installed parental control software on her phone, allowing him to monitor her messages and track her location in real time.
After nine years together, she said she turned to therapy and decided she wanted to end the relationship, but claimed he refused to accept the breakup.
She said: “I was extremely exhausted, but he would not accept it. He would not leave me alone. When I ended things and went to my family’s house, he followed me.”
The couple had spent the night before Mauro’s death together watching a film before Kaline travelled to visit relatives in the countryside of Bahia.
She said she became concerned when he stopped replying to her messages and later received a call from his nephew asking whether Mauro was with her.
Kaline then contacted his family and was told he had died in a road accident in Alagoinhas, a city between her hometown of Cipo and state capital Salvador.
At first, she believed he may have been driving to surprise her.
She recalled: “I thought he could have died because of me.”
She later discovered he had actually been returning from Sergipe when the crash happened.

During the funeral, Kaline said she stayed in a private room with family and friends while grieving and had little contact with other mourners.
But after speaking with people at the ceremony, her mother discovered Mauro had allegedly been involved with other women and kept the information until she felt Kaline was ready to hear it.
Kaline said: “At the funeral, they found out he had two other women besides me. They discovered one who had been dating him for three years and another who had only been with him for a few months.”
After returning to Salvador, she began investigating the claims and contacted other women through social media.
She said she discovered one alleged partner was Mauro’s childhood girlfriend, while another was an intern at the office where he worked.
Kaline said the women compared their experiences and found that Mauro had allegedly given them similar explanations about trips and work commitments while he was with someone else.
She said: “It was as if he was happy that I could not realise it, almost bragging that I was being fooled.”
The discoveries continued when, according to Kaline, the intern found another 19-year-old woman online who had written that she was Mauro’s widow.
She said the young woman told her they had been together for around a month after meeting on a dating app, where Mauro had presented himself as looking for a serious relationship.
Kaline said: “We were finding everything out. Every day that passed, I discovered something worse.”
She also said another former partner contacted her and claimed she had previously ended her own relationship with Mauro because she felt unsafe and suspicious of his “strange stories”.
Kaline said the revelations completely changed how she viewed her relationship.
She said: “The person who died was not the person I knew. He was caring, loving. Until then, the only flaw was that he was very jealous.”
She added that she experienced conflicting emotions after his death.
She said: “When he died, I felt some relief because there was no longer his parental control on my phone and there would be no more chasing. I felt like rubbish for feeling relieved about the death of the person I had been with for 12 years.”
Kaline said she later returned to therapy to process the discoveries.
She said: “My anger was no longer towards him, it was towards myself for allowing him to do this to me.”
She added that she now understands the relationship differently and believes the person she knew was not the same person she later discovered.
