This is the moment a 63-year-old woman gives birth to a baby girl after losing her only son to cancer.
The birth happened at Songyuan Fuhua Maternity Hospital in Songyuan city, Jilin Province, China, on 4th March.
Video provided by the hospital’s director shows the elderly mother waiting to go into labour after her amniotic fluid broke unexpectedly around two weeks before her expected delivery date.
Further footage shows the 63-year-old lying in a hospital bed as staff prepare for the birth before a final clip confirms she safely delivered the baby.
Hospital staff said the woman delivered by caesarean section and give birth to a healthy baby girl.
The woman said she decided to have another child after her only son died from cancer at the age of 35 around a year earlier.
She explained that she and her husband felt unable to continue living with the loss and chose to undergo IVF treatment in order to have another baby.
According to the mother, family members initially opposed the pregnancy because of the significant health risks linked to her age.
She said that if her son had married and left grandchildren, she would never have taken the risk of becoming pregnant again.
When asked whether she hoped for a boy or a girl, the woman replied that she would accept “whatever heaven gave”.
She added that both her parents lived into their nineties and she believes she could live long enough to see the child grow up.

The new mother also said that if anything happened to her and her husband, her nephew has promised to raise the child as his own.
She said: “After our son died, my husband and I stayed in separate rooms because we were too sad to face each other.
“But after I became pregnant, I felt like my heart opened again, and every day I looked forward to meeting the baby.”
Hospital representatives said the patient was the oldest woman to give birth at the facility since it opened.
