Astonished airport customs officials made a jaw-dropping discovery when they found a whole crocodile head in a passenger’s luggage.
The tourist, returning from a holiday in Thailand, was stopped and searched as he tried to clear customs at Switzerland’s Zurich Airport, local media reported on 18th February.
Amazed officers found an entire crocodile head hidden among his clothing plus vast supplies of erection booster drugs.
They also confiscated fake Rolex watches and combat knives which violated Swiss weapons laws.
The head was later identified as a Siamese crocodile, or Crocodylus siamensis, the most endangered croc in the world.
A customs service statement confirmed: “Our employees discovered the head of a protected species of crocodile of the species Crocodylus siamensis in the luggage of a traveler from Thailand at Zurich Airport.
“But that was not the only surprise. In addition to two prohibited knives, they also found fake luxury watches and erection enhancers in excess of the permitted amount.”
It is unclear if the traveller, detained two months ago (December 2024) is facing charges.
Siamese crocodiles, which can grow to nearly seven feet long, are the most critically endangered crocs in the world and have almost vanished from their natural habitats in Indo-China.
Experts say they are extinct in 99 per cent of their original habitats.
