Giant Inflatable Moon Rolls Down Road And Stops Traffic

This hilarious traffic camera footage shows a giant blow-up moon stopping traffic when it is blown through a busy crossroads.

The wandering moon was reported by motorists during afternoon rush hour in the city of Liuzhou in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on 10th September.

The CCTV footage shows the blue moon measuring over 6 feet in diameter rolling into the junction between Guizhong Avenue and Rui’an Road.

As it reaches one side of the crossroads, it suddenly turns when the wind changes direction.

The bouncy blow-up sphere then rolls down Guizhong Road, running over a stopped car’s bonnet, before forcing more vehicles to stop to let it pass, the video shows.

One man can be seen chasing the moon down the thoroughfare, but he was unable to stop it, with police saying the large inflatable ball later got stuck in front of a bank.

The authorities identified its owner as one Mr Zhao, who owns a local pub.

The moon belongs to his business and was used as a promotional prop.

He said: “It had been tied to a patch of grass, but the wind blew it away.”

Mr Zhao and his staff members retrieved, deflated and stored the moon.

The authorities did not fine Mr Zhao as no damage had been done by his runaway sphere.

Members of the public have seen it fitting that the moon rolled down the street this week as the country prepares to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival today (13th September).

The harvest festival is marked on the Chinese lunar calendar and falls always on a full moon.
