This viral video with over 10 million views shows a university’s beloved dog sprinting onto a running track during a 100-metre race and crossing the finish line in third place as spectators go wild.
The pooch lives on the campus of North Minzu University in Yinchuan, capital of China’s north-western Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and did not pass up the opportunity to take part in the school’s 29th annual track and field sports day.
Footage taken from the grandstand shows students watching the men’s 100m dash when the fluffy dog unexpectedly runs onto the track halfway through.

It occupies a lane of its own choosing and manages to finish third, narrowly losing top spot.
As students cheered for the winners, the pooch then spent the next few minutes avoiding capture before video shows it being carried off the running track by a security guard amid a fit of giggles.
According to students and staff at North Minzu University, the the stray dog has been around since it was a pup and has been bestowed celebrity status.

It has also been pictured taking part in the track and field training in the past, but it is unclear whether it ever participated in a formal athletics meet.
A school spokeswoman said: “The dog has been living with us on campus for more than four years. It’s an eager learner and loves advanced mathematics.
“It’s taken part in graduation photos. Now we just owe it a diploma!”
