These images show how a hunting dog was saved by a vet after he ate a piece of meat that had been spiked with a razor blade.
Hunting dog Friedwart, a Bavarian Mountain Hound, suffered the life-threatening injuries in Wanfried, in the German state of Hesse on Sunday, 8th December.
Owner Helmut Braun had noticed his dog eating something strange at around 9pm that evening and rushed him to the vet after finding half a razor blade in his mouth.
The pooch is a skilled hunting dog that is used to finding injured game but on Sunday evening, a vet had to perform emergency surgery on him after he ate a piece of meat that had been spiked with the razor blade.
The gruelling three-hour operation saved the dog’s life, with the unnamed vet telling local media: “He is now being closely cared for by his owner.”

But he is concerned that he could not find the final quarter of the razor blade inside the dog, speculating that it could still be inside him.
Local media said that the baited meat had been thrown onto Braun’s property by persons unknown in a targeted attack.
The dog is still very weak and will take a long time to recover, now sporting a massive scar along his stomach.
Braun has filed a complaint with the police and is considering setting up a video security system on their property.
