This video shows adorable panda twins having a very ‘chill’ party in celebration of their 3rd birthday.

According to Zoo Berlin, birthday boys Pit and Paule have now become teenagers, counting in panda years. The zoo decided to surprise the ‘teens’ by treating them to a very special meal for breakfast: heaps of fruits, vegetables and a big “3” made out of frozen beetroot juice, surrounded by the finest bamboo shoots, which they can be seen feasting on in the footage.

The zoo also provided them with a pile of snow for them to play in, as it is important for them to have fun and play. Keeper Corvin Schmohl, who came up with the birthday surprise with the rest of Zoo Berlin’s panda team, said: “A birthday treat shouldn’t only taste good, it should also involve some fun and games.”

The team had to be extra attentive when arranging the special meal, as Zoo and Tierpark Director Dr Andreas Knieriem explained: “Giant pandas are quite particular about their food, so it takes a fair amount of creativity to come up with an appropriate birthday feast.”

The panda pair approved of their keepers’ choice, as they can be seen happily indulging in the carefully picked-out birthday snacks.
