Tourists Survive Encounter With Massive Grzzly By Keeping Calm And Not Screaming

This incredible video shows the way a massive Alaskan Grizzly saunters past a group of travellers who manage to keep their cool, with experts saying their calm behaviour almost certainly saved their lives.

Bear experts said that the small group had followed exactly the National Park Service’s (NPS) protocols, by not screaming or running, and an older man in the group had calmly spoken to make it clear to the bear that they meant it no harm.

The shocking footage shows the massive bear with clearly visible scars which the tourists said had been fighting another bear a short while before walking down the road and breathing heavily, and then when it gets to a signpost with an image of a bear looking back at it, it decides to turn round and again walk back past them again.

All the while the calming voice of the man who was the seaplane captain that had flown them there is heard repeating “Hey, big lad” and similar platitudes like “Hey Bear” to keep the situation under control.

Cara Siciliano, 44, who shot the video told newsflash: “I currently live in Fort Myers Florida and when I am not chasing my next adventure I am a real estate broker in Florida Massachusetts New York and Rhode Island.

“I was travelling with two other couples and my seaplane captain when we shot this video in Katmai Park in Alaska.

“Honestly, I am amazed I did not seem more scared, my first reaction was to look up at the sky and make sure that I was good with God, and to pray, and then I hit record on my phone.”

Cara said that the reason the bear was breathing heavily was that it had been fighting with another bear a short while previously, and she said there was also a restroom seen in the footage on the other side of the road where other people had gone to hide.

She said the other bear was briefly visible at the start of her footage.

Cara praised the seaplane captain for his calm which had kept everybody doing the right thing.

She said: “My seaplane captain said he walked that trail 1,000 times and has never seen anything like it!”

The footage attracted numerous comments including one who wrote: “I don’t sure what the right thing to do here is, but I would’ve soiled my pants and I’m guessing that’s terrible.”

Another said: “Charmin bear in search of toilet paper.”
