Motorist Blames Computer For Crashing Tesla

A Tesla owner has blamed his car’s “computer” after dashcam footage showed it crashing past two cars and slamming into a lorry in heavy traffic.

Tesla is now reportedly looking into the accident and say they will review the ‘black box’ of the car, which appears to be a Model S, in order to verify the owner’s claims.

The video from one of the damaged cars shows the dark grey Tesla coming out of nowhere and speeding along a narrow gap between the row of cars and the crash barrier to the left.

The Tesla nicks the dashcam vehicle — which was a white SUV – as well as a second silver car before slamming to a stop into the back of the lorry.

Images of the crash show the front and side of the Tesla to be completely destroyed, with the vehicle later towed away by emergency services.
It is unclear whether it can be repaired.

According to local media, the owner has pointed the finger to the Tesla’s internal “computer”, claiming it malfunctioned and blaming it for the accident.

However, Tesla Hong Kong revealed each of its vehicles has a data recorder similar to an aeroplane’s ‘black box’.

It is investigating the accident and will review the Tesla’s data log in order to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Local media outlets trying to find the ‘human element’ in the crash have pointed to rear dash footage from the SUV, which appears to show the Tesla driver attempting to squeeze between a narrow gap.
