Student Jumps To Death As Filming Onlookers Egg Him On

This is the shocking moment a 21-year-old university student jumps to his death from a four-storey shopping centre as a crowd films him and urges him to jump.

The incident took place in the city of Bandar Lampung in the western Indonesia province of Lampung when the unnamed student reportedly took his own life because of a relationship breakup.

In the footage, the young man is seen standing on the ledge of a four-storey building with his back to the street.

He suddenly throws himself backwards and the huge crowd that had earlier been seen shouting jump screams as the 21-year-old falls through the sky and lands hard on the tarmac.

In the next scene from street level, dozens of people are seen taking photos and filming the man’s motionless body as blood pours out of his head onto the road.

According to local media, none of the witnesses present tried to convince the suicidal student not to kill himself.

But many others reportedly shouted “jump” and laughed at the man as they filmed him with their phones.

Eyewitness Heni told local media: “I even saw up there [on the roof] a man who was wearing black. I thought he was negotiating with the victim so he wouldn’t commit suicide, but he was actually among those who took pictures.”

Reports said that many photos and video clips appeared on social media before the student had even jumped.

In Indonesia, knowingly neglecting a person in danger when able to intervene is a crime punishable by up to three months in prison, however, it is considered unlikely that the police will enforce the law in this case.
