Shelter Dog Feeding 18 Pups After 9 Found On Street

This cute pooch has been breastfeeding 18 puppies at a dog shelter after giving birth to nine shortly before workers found another nine abandoned by the side of the road.

The mother dog and her puppies are hoping to find forever homes at the Public Shelter for Abandoned Animals on Varful Street in the city of Constanta in the south-eastern Romanian county of the same name.

The unnamed pooch had already given birth to nine puppies of her own when shelter workers came across another nine by the side of the road.

The puppies were around two weeks old when found, and had apparently been abandoned by their owner.

Shelter carers first fed the nine pooches with a syringe before handing over feeding duties to the mother dog.

The shelter added that the dogs are all doing well.

Images of the mother dog and the puppies were shared on social media by the Constanta City Council with the message: “The problem of dogs being abandoned and left to their own devices is not new and, unfortunately, not any closer to being solved.

“Anyone caring for a pet should be responsible and have the animal neutered.”

“The two-year-old female and the 18 puppies are all available for adoption.”

Netizen ‘Carmen Tanase’ commented: “Poor animals left at the mercy of a cruel person. Harsh punishment doesn’t mean anything to anyone anymore.”

‘Valentina Gheorghiu’ said: “Such a shame, animals give us life lessons.”
