This viral video with over a million views shows a suspected serial chicken thief luring a big fat cockerel into his clutches by offering it a one-legged hen before grabbing it as the male apparently tries to have sex with it.

The frustrated farmer is said to have lost more than 20 chickens to the alleged poultry crook, surnamed Liu, since December.

Investigators from the county of Yishui in East China’s Shandong Province have shared footage of the suspect’s unusual – and successful – method using a one legged hen that is unable to go far as the males approach, making them easier to catch as the crook sneaks up behind them.

The clip going viral on social media shows him approaching the farmer’s cockerels that keep out of range but are also keen to reach the hen dropped on the ground by the crook to draw their attention.

After grabbing the big white cockerel the crook stuffs it into a basket on the back of his motorcycle and ties it so it can not escape before retrieving his hen and driving off.

County police say they caught the serial chicken thief two days later on 24th January.

He is suspected of stealing more than 20 of the farmer’s chickens since December 2018.
