Scooter Teen Dragged Under Freight Train Loses Legs

This footage shows the moment a 15-year-old boy crashes into a freight train at a level crossing and is dragged under the hurtling locomotive in an accident that has cost him his legs.

The incident took place in Belarus’ Mogilev region in the town of Shklow.

The footage shows a teenager, who has not been named in reports, pulling up to the freight train, having apparently just overtaken a stopped lorry, trying to stop his scooter. He fails to brake in time however, and in a split second he has disappeared from view.

The freight train reportedly severed both his legs.

As the footage ends, a biker can be seen pulling up to the level crossing as the last of the train’s wagons go by. It seems as though he sees the teenager, who at this point is hidden by the lorry. The biker appears to be trying to put his motorcycle stand down to go and help the boy.

According to local media, the boy survived, but lost both his legs. He is currently in a serious condition in hospital.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated. Police have yet to determine whether the teenager’s inexperience caused the crash or whether it was down to a mechanical failure.

Shklow used to be a town with a significant Jewish population, which was largely wiped out during Nazi occupation during World War II.
