Russian Playboy Model Slams Poor Mums Having Kids

This Russian Playboy model has slammed the country’s campaign to increase the birthrate and said that would-be mums should not have kids they cannot afford.

Model, mother and reality star Alena Vodonaeva, 37, has told her 2.2 million online followers that people should first travel and start a career before considering starting a family, whilst also supporting abortion.

She said: “Get an education, make a career, see the world, earn money, and only then start thinking about becoming a mother. Do not give birth to slaves to this country. Our country cannot afford its average citizens getting children just because they want to, so let’s save up and get a career, my dears.”

Vodonaeva also spoke out in favour of abortions, saying: “This is your decision, which concerns only your body and your abilities.”

She stressed she is shocked how the Russian government is trying to solve the issue of a population shortage and is convinced that the country she lives in is poor and greedy, adding: “If you are unsure that you can provide for yourself and the baby, don’t give birth on a whim.”

Popular actor, director and also orthodox priest Ivan Okhlobystin, 53, has criticised Vodonaeva for her comments, saying: “Another whore has recommended not to give birth to slaves to this country. It would be good to have some sort of filter and this way protect viewers from women with low social responsibility.”

However, some netizens backed Vodonaeva, such as ‘juliavelikikh’ who said: “I totally agree, first you need a job, income and to realise that you can actually give something to this new person.”

And ‘mrs.elit’ added: “At least someone has said it.”

While ‘fadeeva_lili’ commented: “Totally agree with you, you said it so very right. These things should be said, these things should be written down, maybe then people would finally get the message.”

Vodonaeva first found fame on ‘Dom-2’ (‘House 2’), Russia’s longest-running reality show in which contestants have to build a home while trying to find a partner in the process.

In the past, the controversial Playboy model, who once claimed to have performed oral sex on her boyfriend outside the Kremlin, has said that she is disgusted by overweight people and does not want them next to her on public transport or in the same swimming pool as her.
