The rotting naked body of a missing teen woman has been found on a roadside surrounded by vultures.
A local resident called the police after he spotted several vultures in a ditch in a rural part of the municipality of Avare in the south-eastern Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
The police arrived on the scene, where they found the rotting corpse of 18-year-old Jennifer Eduarda da Cruz Blimblem, who had been missing since Friday, 24th September.
The victim was naked and displayed head injuries and several perforations to the chest and abdomen. Pieces of clothing and strands of hair were found a few metres away from the body.
The body was taken to the coroner’s office for a post-mortem, whose report has not yet been released. The police hope to learn if the young woman was sexually abused.
The clothing and hair were taken by investigators for analysis. According to the news outlet R7, the hair was black, and, therefore, may belong to the perpetrator, as the victim was blonde.
The police reported that the victim’s mobile phone had been stolen. At the time of reporting, they had not yet identified any suspects or a possible motive for the crime.
The young woman’s family had only filed a missing persons report on Tuesday, 28th September, as she had a history of disappearing and reappearing, having done so in 2014, 2018 and 2020.
The victim was buried in the Municipal Cemetery of Avare on the afternoon of Saturday, 2nd October.
The police have registered the case as a murder, and the investigation is ongoing.
