These pictures show a brave puppy that is now fighting for its life after eating poisoned food that killed its mother and four siblings.

The surviving puppy is around 6 weeks old

The images, which show the survivor and its deceased family have sparked outrage among animal rights activists.

The lone surviving puppy is now being cared for at an animal shelter where volunteers hope to find a home for the little dog if it survives.

Netizen ‘Serene Chai’ commented: “Cursed be the one who poisoned them… So sad to see. I am crying as I read this.”

But ‘David Tsok’ added: “Don’t count on karma or God to punish these idiots. Please lobby the government to empower the SPCA to issue punishment to those low life idiots through animal cruelty laws.”

The pictures were shared by the local branch of the Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA), which believes the dogs were deliberately poisoned, on its Facebook page.

There is no report of police investigating the incident. Stray dogs are seen as a problem in Malaysia where officials have threatened mass culls if charities do not take them in.

And politician Datuk Syed Sis Syed Abdul Rahman appalled animal lovers in December when he urged the country to sell its stray dogs to South Korea for meat.
