The documentary called ‘Generation Selfie’ interviewed Younes while he was being mobbed by his followers at a shopping centre in Switzerland’s largest city of Zurich.

Younes was asked by the female interviewer: “You are a total heartthrob. Do your fans know that you are gay?”

The Swiss social media star was visibly surprised by the question.

He answered: “I do not want to talk about this topic. I simply think that it is my private life.”

Younes added: “I stand up for what I am, but I simply do not want to talk about it, sorry.”

He later asked the documentary makers not to broadcast the question – but his request was rjected.

Younes said: “It’s cheeky that they showed that on TV. I have never publicly called myself gay.”

However, filmmaker Vanessa Nikisch said that “Younes knew about it and agreed with the broadcast of this scene”.

His popularity does not appear to have been affected and he has even got new requests from potential sponsors as well as hundreds of additional followers.

However, Younes also said that older men had written him messages like “you looked good in the interview, let’s meet”.

He said: “It’s disgusting. They could be my grandfather.”
