The strange incident occurred during Pentecostal mass and the priest has now the Archbishopric of Santa Fe of Antioquia has reportedly reprimanded the priest for his behaviour because he was using non-traditional objects.

Orlando Corrales, Archbishop of Santa Fe of Antioquia, told local media that holy water should be distributed with a pot and hyssop ( a small brush used for sprinkling water). The archbishop added that the priest had apologised but said he would be brought in for a meeting with the archbishopric next week. He added that the priest’s behaviour does not warrant a sanction.

However, Local resident Alonso de Jesus Concha Rojo told reporters: “This has never happened before, but it was a transcendental thing for the municipality because people here are very religious and left the ceremony very happy. The holy water had never dropped onto everybody, as in general the priest walks around and the water only touches the first few people.”

And Milvia Munera, another churchgoer, said: “This is an amazing act, people were happy, all of them were curious, it (the water) did not get to everybody, then he had to use the pump and we all had holy water.”
