Pet Kitten Rescued After Spending 24 Hours Trapped Inside Drain Pipe

This is the heart-warming moment firefighters save a kitten that was trapped inside a narrow pipe for 24 hours after smashing up the pavement to reach it.

The rescue took place in Muriae, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, on Tuesday, 28th October.

According to the Muriae Fire Department, residents from the neighbourhood heard meowing coming from beneath a pavement the day before, but were unable to locate the source of the sound.

When they realised it was coming from inside a built-in drainage pipe, they contacted emergency services for help.

Video shows firefighters carefully lifting the frightened animal from the opening after cutting through a section of the pipe.

The feline is covered in mud but otherwise appears to be unharmed.

After being cleaned up, the kitten is seen wrapped in a pink towel before it was returned safely to its owner, who had been present throughout the rescue.

According to the firefighters, the kitten had accidentally fallen into the pipe and was unable to free itself.

Authorities confirmed there were no injuries and no significant damage to the surrounding structure.
