This is the moment a kindhearted passerby rescues a cute bird stuck to the pavement by chewing gum.
The unnamed resident was filmed donning a surgical glove and carefully removing the bird’s feet from the gum in the southern Turkish province of Adana.
The young man was with a friend when he saw the poor bird fluttering on the pavement and then realised that it was unable to take off.
The kindhearted local carefully removed its feet from the sticky substance and then proceeded to pick off pieces of gum from the bird as he held it in his hand.
A friend filmed the incident and shared it on social media because they wanted to warn other people not to throw their chewing gum on the ground as it can seriously affect other animals.
It is unclear whether the bird was able to return to its nest after being rescued.
Netizens had a lot to say about their good deed and important message, with ‘Ecder Akyazi:’ commenting: “Well done young man!”
‘Serdar Tacyildiz’ wrote: “Please throw your gum in the bins, not on the streets.”
‘Hakan Uzun’ said: “If you use gum, don’t let others step in it, always throw it in the bin.”
