Reports said that a man was seen throwing the dog behind some trees at around 6am.

Quinteros said she went to the scene and found the dog with signs of torture and some of its skin cut away.

She took the puppy to a vet for treatment, telling local media: “The dog suffered a lot. It is still recovering but it is serious.”

Quinteros said the dog needs surgery and that its recovery will be a long process.

The animal lover dubbed the female animal Angelita, adding: “Despite the terrible things she suffered, she is learning to trust humans again.”

Quinteros, who works helping abandoned animals, said: “She was malnourished and in a very bad condition.

“Her skin was stripped, there were insects in the wound, but thank God this situation is being remedied.”

Vet Analia Sciocia told local media: “The treatment is going well and she is improving slowly day by day.”

According to reports, the kindhearted rescuer knows of several people interested in adopting the puppy when she recovers.

They have not reported the incident to the authorities because they have no idea who tortured to the dog, according to local media.
